The Read-a-Thon is an important PTA fundraiser that encourages all students to enjoy and excel in reading while participating in a friendly competition for prizes while having fun! The Read-a-Thon is our main fundraiser, so we hope to have amazing participation.
A special author visit in conjunction with the read-a-thon is scheduled on January 6 at 1:00 pm with a former Georgia Bulldog and New England Patriot, Malcolm Mitchell. He will be sharing his book The Magician's Hat. Each student will receive a copy of the book, and Malcolm is also bringing his magician to perform for students. This visit is sponsored by the GL PTA and the GL Library Fund. (Be the Coffee Bean: Lessons on Adversity from a Super Bowl Champion - Ted Talk).
Special Read-a-Thon events:
-Author visit with former Georgia Bulldog and New England Patriot, Malcolm Mitchell (and a magician!) on January 6 at 1:00 pm to share his book The Magician's Hat!
-Pajama Party on Wednesday, January 11 at 6:30-7:30 pm in the Media Center. Wear your PJs, snack on cookies and milk, and snuggle in with a good book!
-Winners announced at Community Circle on January 13!
Funds raised by the PTA’s Read-a-Thon will go to help support Glennwood, including supplies needed for teachers, staff, and students, teacher innovation grants, school improvements, teacher appreciation events and gifts, school supply kits and Kindergarten t-shirts, and much more!
